Rich Media – A Lasting Impression
An Eyeblaster Analytics study analyzed a well-known global advertiser. The study covered 25 major campaigns, over 340 million impressions – 74% of which were rich media and 24% were standard banners (a ratio of 3 rich media impressions to one standard).
A clear correlation was found between the prevalence of rich media and an increased conversion rate. In the 10 lowest converting campaigns, standard banners were 44% more prevalent than in the top 10 campaigns.
However, the true value of rich media goes beyond that. Rich Media represented 74% of the entire study, but of the impressions that led to conversion, rich media made up 82% – demonstrating a higher conversion rate among rich media than among the standard banners. When examining all paths, an astonishing 98% of impressions were rich media impressions.
Bottom line: Rich media, is more effective as a conversion mechanism than standard banners. And the true effect of rich media is much longer lasting. Even when the conversion is generated from a standard banner, the path to that conversion, and probably the reason for the conversion, is almost purely rich media.
